Najib's pursuit of Sodomy II appeal against Anwar is criminal & tyrannical
I refer to the appeal against the acquittal of Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in the Sodomy II case which came up on 7.9.12 at the Court of Appeal. The appeal is legally insupportable and an act of pure political malice by Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak and UMNO-BN. Contrary to his duty to act impartially, Attorney General Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail is pursuing this baseless appeal purely for the benefit of his political masters UMNO-BN. The entire Sodomy II case was a vicious and criminal fabrication orchestrated by UMNO-BN, with the collaboration of the top police leadership. This has been rightly condemned throughout the world by nations, organisations and prominent individuals.The objective of this criminal conspiracy has always been to end Anwar Ibrahim's long struggle for Reform and prevent Pakatan Rakyat from taking federal power. This relentless pursuit of the Sodomy II case against Anwar Ibrahim reveals Najib's unscrupulous, amoral and tyrannical nature. Whilst pretending to engage in democratic politics, Najib disgracefully and criminally continues the UMNO-BN tradition of persecuting and jailing political opponents instead of engaging in civilised political debate. Whilst pretending to champion democratization, Najib continues to influence and pervert the legal process in an attempt to imprison the leader of the parliamentary opposition, Anwar Ibrahim. In doing so, Najib follows the footsteps of historical tyrants such as Stalin and Mubarak, who similarly used their country's legal system to destroy their political opponents. We call upon Najib, UMNO-BN and the Attorney General to immediately withdraw the Sodomy II appeal and cease forever the criminal conduct of manipulating the legal system against the Opposition.
